A Blessing In Disguise

Sooo… when I was unloading the dishwasher yesterday. I guess I was being clumsy, because the coffeepot hooked around the rack and I broke off a huge piece of glass. I knew I wouldn’t be able to fix this, so I was quite upset. Today I went online to see if I could find a new pot on some spare-part-websites. I found a few, but the cheapest of them would be 25 Euros without shipping. That’s more then the whole coffeemaker cost in the first place!

IMG-20150407-WA0003Ok, on to our second option, buying second hand. I checked for people selling coffeemakers in our neighborhood, and I found a few. I had to run some errands anyway, so I decided to stop by the thriftstore before contacting anyone to buy their coffeemaker. There, for only 9,50 , was this awesome coffeemaker! Why is it awesome? Well, you may remember me saying my old coffeemaker used less energy than I thought. This new coffeemaker uses even less! Why? Because instead of a normal pot, it has a thermos┬ápot. All the coffee goes straight into the thermos, and when it’s done brewing, the machine turns itself off! It won’t use any energy to keep the coffee warm, so it’ll save a bunch more.

It sucks the old coffeepot broke, but we have a better one now, so that’s a win. Now to find a way to repurpose the old coffeemaker… hmm… If you have any ideas, please leave them in the comments below!
